President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the posting of 65 ambassadors-designate to Nigerian diplomatic missions across the world, including the United Nations, marking a significant step in strengthening Nigeria’s foreign representation.
The newly deployed envoys comprise 31 career diplomats and 34 non-career ambassadors, whose nominations were earlier screened and confirmed by the Nigerian Senate in December 2025.
Among the prominent postings announced are businessman Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode to Germany, retired General Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau to China, former Akwa Ibom military administrator Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas to the Philippines, and media personality Reno Omokri to Mexico.
Other key assignments include Lateef Kayode Are to the United States, Aminu Dalhatu to the United Kingdom, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to Greece, Chioma Ohakim to Poland, and Olufemi Pedro to Australia.
The deployment follows a prolonged gap in Nigeria’s diplomatic representation after the recall of ambassadors in 2023, and is expected to enhance the country’s international engagement and bilateral relations with partner nations.
